“Stormseeker”
May 16, 2025 – Today, Swiss-Canadian electro-noise pop artist and visual provocateur Camilla Sparksss releases “Stormseeker,” the third single from her upcoming album ICU RUN, arriving September 12, 2025 via On The Camper Records.
If earlier singles “Backflip” was a headrush and “I Like the Noise” a brash confrontation, this new single moves differently. Swirling in a fog of '80s nostalgia, “Stormseeker” is a sleek, slow burn that pulses with dark glamour as thick analogue synths ooze beneath awkwardly sweet, alien and endearing vocals. Dark yet dazzling, it flickers like a neon-lit dream — moody, magnetic, impossible to pin down.
“Stormseeker” channels the shapeshifting energy at the heart of ICU RUN, gliding between shadow and light, sweetness and bite. It’s the sound of someone unraveling their past and stitching it into something fierce, fragile, and unmistakably their own. Sparksss pushes into a thrilling new territory, fusing industrial crunch, hip-hop snap, darkwave mood, and raw pop instinct.
About the artist:
Born Barbara Lehnhoff, Camilla Sparksss is a Swiss-Canadian electro-noise pop musician and visual artist, best known for her raw, high-energy performances. Also a co-founder of the post-punk band Peter Kernel, Sparksss was born at -27 degrees in Kenora, Ontario, where her childhood was filled with unique experiences including having a pet bear and a father who flew a floatplane.
Her music fuses heavy beats pressed on dubplates, thick synth textures, and cutting vocals, crafting an unmistakable sound. Her debut album For You The Wild (2014) established her as a force in darkwave and experimental electronic music, earning her an opening spot for The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion. Her follow-up album, Brutal (2019), delved deeper into experimental noise, later remixed in Brutal Remix (2020) by artists like Fakear and Rebeka Warrior.
In 2023, she toured extensively as the support act for A Place to Bury Strangers, spanning the UK and Europe. Her boundary-pushing collaborations continued, including a one-hour live composition for Ypsigrock Festival in Sicily with Alec Ounsworth (Clap Your Hands Say Yeah) and Eva Geist, which led to the release of The Sound of This Place (2022). That same year, she composed and performed music for Der Besuch der Alten Dame, a theatre production touring across Europe.
Further solidifying her artistic versatility, Sparksss released Lullabies (2023), an audiovisual album featuring an animated vinyl. In 2025, a remix edition by William Basinski and Gary Thomas Wright followed. Her self-directed music video Watch Me won Best Swiss Music Video 2025 at the Solothurn Film Festival, further cementing her reputation as a pioneering multimedia artist.
With over 1,000 live performances across Europe, North Africa, Canada, and the US, Camilla Sparksss is a commanding presence in the global experimental electronic scene.
Her upcoming album, ICU RUN, is designed to make listeners dance, feel, and immerse themselves in its electrifying energy.
